Republic of Moldova

Moldova, officially the Republic of Moldova is located between Romania to the west and Ukraine to the north, east, and south. It is one of the new independent states in Europe, declaring its independence in 1991 after the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
Moldova's history coincides up to a point with the history of Romania - from the Neolithic Stone Age era, to the Antiquity and up to the beginning of the 19th century, when the Ottomans (to whom Moldova was a vessel state) ceded the country to the Russian Empire.
Nowadays, the Republic of Moldova is well known for its excellent wines, its numerous wine cellars, beautiful monasteries that dot the countryside and its breathtaking landscapes.
